Me and my coworker sistas performing a medley of cultural dances from Ethiopia and Eritrea. I borrowed choreography from my college days as a dancer (shout out to the original African Queens dance group of LMU!) as well as choreographing some new sequences for this one. This dance features 4 cultures: the first section is Amharic, the second is Oromo, the third Tigrigna, and the last is Gurage.

Me and my coworker sistas performing “Fume Fume,” a cultural dance of the Ga Adangbe people of Ghana. This dance features jumps and kicks as is typical of religious dances. My coworkers and I performed this version at work for our Black History Month cultural event. It was great to bring my childhood choreographed

I love singing this particular vocal riff (probably because I love the song itself so much! Shout out to Jonathan McReynolds). Well, did I do it? Check out the original song here and let me know if you think I did it justice. Practice makes progress! And progress beats perfection every day of the week. Let me know what song you’d like to see me cover next.
Hey “Fanily”! I hope you enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at where this album came from and how it went from concept to finished product. It took me a year to produce this album. It was a lot of hard work, some disappointments along the way (there always are! Ah, life…), and in the end a process that grew me up quite a bit. What was your favorite part about the peek behind the scenes? Drop a line in the comments and let me know

Hey “Fanily”! In this episode I sat down with my friend Annie Joseph to discuss what “unbroken” (my album title) means to her. My favorite thing she said is that I might have some cracks, but I’m not shattered. Ain’t that the truth, especially after COVID19 and this crazy 2020 we’ve had! Pull up a chair next to us and let me know what “Unbroken” means to you. Shout out to everyone who’s been through something tough – you may have some cracks but thank God you’re not shattered.
